TARZAN UND HEIDI
/TARZAN AND HEIDI

Schlosstheater Moers, Premiere: May 12th, 2007

TARZAN UND HEIDI, a play about illiterates, is part of the campaign VORSICHT ARMUT (WATCH OUT: POVERTY) waged by the Schlosstheater Moers to publicize and discuss the ongoing impoverishment in this country that is so often denied. Based on interviews with people affected, the play contrasts their lifestories with the cynicism of politicians and the commonly held view of the poor as parasites, which persists even though their numbers are getting bigger. The production gives insight into the daily drama of illiterates' lives, be it at the doctor's, in the supermarket or at work, and toys with the complex mechanisms of hiding.
